Lots of stuff going on.. firstly Happy Canada Day Everyone! hope you all had a fantastic long weekend here in Canada. July 1st saw something incredible where Russia, the host country, wins against Spain to book a showing in the QF! The biggest surprise here with Russia winning in shootouts especially with Spain completely dominating possession in every possible way. Russia's goalie (now a hero!) just stood on his head with some of those saves! I cant believe Russia is moving forward when many sports pundits had them out in the group stages, just unbelievable!! Ziyan called Russia and both Zak and I laughed, who is laughing now!! Then the Croatians beat Denmark in shootout and another one that was insane from the spot kick! First a penalty save in the game and then FOUR SAVES in the shootout.. just unbelievable. Denmark should have won this but another team was upset. Next day we had the Brazilians vs the Mexicans and although both teams played well what stood out in this game was the theatrics of the brazilians for wasting time, especially Neymar. He gives this beautiful game a bad reputation. A skillful player like him shouldnt need to do all these shenanigans on the pitch. Then came the best game of the world cup.. it was going to be the biggest upset of the tournament with Japan leading 2-0 with almost 60mins gone against the Belgians! Wow and then cue the comeback with 3 goals that were all amazing. Especially game winner in the 94th minute which started from the Belgians end from counter attack with the goalie recognizing to pass it to De Bruyne and the pass and the finish all within 12seconds from end to end! Brazil should be worried with the Belgians coming through. Will make for an interesting game for sure. On to predictions...
